Historic Petersburg Foundation’s Holiday House Tour

The Historic Petersburg Foundation is excited to highlight Petersburg's Walnut Hill neighborhood for this year's Holiday House Tour to celebrate its early 2023 listing as a state and nationally-recognized historic district on the Virginia Landmark Register and the National Register of Historic Places. Building on the work of a dedicated group of community members and utilizing funding from the Cameron Foundation, HPF worked with a cultural resource management firm and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to realize Petersburg's only historic district to focus exclusively on 20th-century architecture.

The Walnut Hill Historic District comprises a large residential neighborhood that was first subdivided in 1910 after acquisition of a nearly 250-acre farm, at one time called Walnut Hill.
